System Engineer – Air System, Powertrain

We are looking for an experienced system engineer responsible for the air system for internal combustion engines in light vehicles. This role is suitable for you if you have a strong background in mechanics or product development, good understanding of combustion engines and experience of driving technical issues through both early and late development phases.

As a system engineer, you are responsible for the technical solution and system performance of the air system. This means ensuring that the air system meets requirements for pressure, flow, function and robustness, and that the system behaviour contributes to meeting the overall engine performance. You translate overall engine requirements into requirements, technical solutions and follow-up within the air system.

The role includes work in early concept phases with concept studies, time plans, risk management and prioritization of technical activities. You define and follow up the need for simulations, rig tests, DV testing and PV testing. You also drive technical investigations in late industrialization phases, where questions related to builds, verification, quality and deviations need to be handled.

You will have dialogue with both internal and external suppliers and coordinate technical questions, including towards current and future end customers. The role requires that you build and use a large internal network to secure the air system’s performance and progress through the full development chain.

We believe that you need to have worked in similar roles, or as a lead engineer, and have gone through several complete development cycles. You have good understanding of combustion engines and can take clear technical responsibility for the air system.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, product development or similar.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience from design engineering, lead engineering, system engineering or equivalent technical responsibility.
  • Documented experience of internal combustion engines, ICE.
  • Experience of project or assignment leadership with responsibility for time, technology, cost, quality and performance.
  • Experience of requirement breakdown, technical investigations, risk management and follow-up of technical activities.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience from Volvo, Aurobay, CEVT, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Polestar or another vehicle development environment in Gothenburg.
  • Experience of technical dialogue and follow-up with suppliers and customers.
  • Experience of plastic design, sealing concepts and mechanical interfaces.
  • Experience of Catia V5 and Teamcenter.
