”The variety is the best part of being a consultant, no two days are alike”

Karin holds a degree in Textile Engineering from the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, where she specialized in textile technology. Becoming an engineer was initially a coincidence, but she saw it as an opportunity to keep many doors open and work in exciting fields.

Today, she works as a Group Design Leader in the seating department at Volvo Cars, where she is responsible for product development and components. Car seats are something many people interact with daily, yet few realize how complex they really are. They need to be not only stylish and comfortable but also meet high standards for safety, ergonomics, sustainability, production, and long-term quality.

– “You never really stop learning when working with car seats. There’s always something new to discover, and depending on which component I’m working on or what stage the project is in, my days look very different,” says Karin.

For her, the best part of being a consultant is the variety – no two days are ever the same. She gets to work with everything from design and suppliers to factories and various development teams at Volvo.

During her time at Sigma, she has collected many great memories. One highlight was the summer conference at Krokholmen – a magical experience in the Bohuslän archipelago!

When she’s not working, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, at a concert, or in the pool for a freestyle swim session. She’s an early riser who gets a lot done before 8 AM – always followed by a well-deserved cup of brewed coffee on the sofa with colleagues.

How would she describe herself? Detail-oriented, positive, and helpful. Her go-to emoji? 🤪 Her dream superpower? A photographic memory. And her most unexpected skill learned as a consultant? Skiing!
